Hap Bailey-Hudec has enjoyed a lifetime behind the lens along with her passion for animals in the wild. She has made multiple trips to Eastern Africa; to Northeastern China in the winter to photograph the endangered Siberian tiger; to Wolong, China, for the whimsical pandas and two trips to the Spitzbergen Archipelago in the Northern Arctic on a 50 passenger Russian research vessel seeking the elusive polar bears. Another one of her travels took her to a very remote area on Hudson Bay with a small group seeking mother polar bears as they emerge from their winter dens with their cubs, followed by a trip to Northern Quebec to photograph the harp seals with their newborn pups on the floating ice fields in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. As a youngster she has memories of working alongside her father in the darkroom. Truman Bailey who was an artist and a free–lance photographer with commissions from National Geographic, LIFE Magazine and Natural History Magazine, among others, and published a book in the 30’s on his travel experiences,” Polynesian Venture,” still available in used book stores! Her lust for travel and photography comes naturally, and she’s always thinking about her next adventure!
